It seems that the latest version of MetaWin Viewer (6.29) is unable to open TIF files due to an unsupported file format. Even after reinstalling an older version, the same error persists.
I get the error "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail"
This is in Windows 10 and all the "visual runtimes" are up-to-date.
I installed Metawin Viewer 6 by updating the old version 5 which was working fine but the new one is not working and this error messages appeared: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect."

The problem is related to the Visual Runtime libraries installed in your computer. Try to install Visual Runtime 2008 and 2010. This installation should fix the issue.
The latest version of the application is Baker Hughes MetaWin 5.2. Since I tested on my Windows 7 64-bit computer and it worked without problems, I suggest you to download and install the software from the official web page. Fill in the provided form, click the Download button, save the file to your computer and install it following the provided steps.
